God Bless your mom. Over the last three years I know so many who have lost their parents and other family members, friends. A couple people I know are dealing with cancer. My prayers to all out their dealing with this heartache. This is touching everyone.

It is absolutely touching everyone. I'd be an uncontrollable mess without the Lord. Although my flesh is devastated, my mom and I have tremendous peace.

Hi Kelley. So sorry to hear about all that you and your family are going through. Your mom has an amazing attitude and an inspiring outlook. That said, as this stuff is brutal on all involved, I hope you all continue to receive the various types of support that help.

Hi Jim - We are leveraging a wide range of resources on navigating grief and are fortunate to have an extremely strong support system. When mom was diagnosed, I asked her to tell me everything so I could process it in real time and not be taken by surprise down the road. Having the ability to talk openly with her and each other (siblings especially) has been really special. These life altering events have a way of getting everyone affected on the same page and to set aside differences that distract from what we have in common - losing our mom, 18 years after we lost our dad. I hate every minute of this and my tear ducts are in full gear, but I am not incapacitated by fear or sadness. I am leaning into the moment. I have no doubt the spring will bring a rough season of mourning, but, until then, I am focusing on the healing this time has brought. It could have ended in a very different way.

Glad to hear that you have people walking through this with you, Kelley, and that you can still share more moments with your mom. You've already been through so much personally and professionally. I really hope some big wins and happy stuff are on your horizon.

What a heartfelt message... I hear your pain, but I also hear your hope in the God of our salvation. I am sure you will touch many with this post. Right now, my wife and I are dealing with the imminent death of her older brother... of cancer. Thank you for posting it, as I found it to be a blessing.
